On Monday, which would’ve been Bowie’s 77th birthday, an official inauguration took place for a road in Paris named after the late superstar to honor his legacy.
The road is located between the Jardin des Plantes botanical gardens and the National Library,The Mirrorreports.
The “Starman” musician,who died of cancer in 2016at age 69, was honored at the inauguration with a concert and an exhibit, according toABC NewsandThe Mirror.
Jermone Coumet, mayor of the 13th arrondissement, first announced the decision to immortalize the late singer back in 2020 to honor his impact on music, fashion and culture in the city.
Also on Monday, rock band Wilcoshared their live renditionof the British singer’s classic “Space Oddity.”

The cover, which was recorded at a 2016 concert at Brooklyn’s King Theater, will be featured as the opening track on an upcoming album titledLive on Mountain Stage: Outlaws and Outliers,out April 19.

We thank Mountain Stage for letting us give this song another home on Earth.”

Earlier this year, theDavid Bowie Centre for the Study of Performing Arts was announcedand is set to open in London in 2025. The museum will include more than 80,000 items detailing his trajectory as a musical innovator, cultural icon, and advocate for self-expression and reinvention beginning with his early career in the 1960s and closing with his death in 2016.
“He didn’t just make art, he was art!“Nile Rodgers, who produced Bowie’s 1983 hit “Let’s Dance,” said in a release.
