Jennifer Aniston‘s 50th birthday celebrations came to a halt when her private plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday.
The actress was headed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico when her plane circled back and landed at the Ontario International Airport in Ontario, California, a source tells PEOPLE.
The airport was closed down so the plane could land, according to the source. The actress and her friends will wait for a new plane at the airport and continue on their trip to Cabo San Lucas, the source added.
In astatementreleased shortly after, it was revealed there were problems with the plane’s landing gear.
“A Gulfstream aircraft with 10 passengers and two flight crew members on board landed without incident at Ontario International Airport (ONT) after experiencing landing gear difficulty,” the statement read.

“The plane was en route Friday from Los Angeles International Airport to Cabo San Lucas when it was discovered that one of the four rear tired had displaced,” it continued. “The aircraft landed safely at ONT around 2 p.m. Friday.”
The news comes almost a week after theFriendsactress celebrated her birthday among her pals includingCourteney Cox,Gwyneth Paltrow,Kate Hudson,George and Amal Clooney,Reese Witherspoon,Robert Downey Jr.,Ellen DeGeneres, Barbra Streisand, Keith Richards,Laura Dern,Demi MooreandLisa Kudrow— as well as Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt.
“Basically, every single person who Jen loves attended. That included Brad,” a source told PEOPLE. “The party was a celebration of Jen’s life.”

“Brad, for long, was a very important part of Jen’s life. She debated back and forth with friends if she should invite him,” added the insider. “She was very happythat he showed up. Many of his close friends were at the party too.”
Even though Aniston invited her ex-husband, 55, to the bash, she “didn’t really pay any special attention to Brad,” the source explains, adding that “Jen was busy making sure all of her other guests had an amazing time.”
Another of Aniston’s previous loves, ex-husbandJustin Theroux, couldn’t make it to the party but shared a sweet photo of the actress on Instagram to commemorate her birthday.
“Happy Birthday to this fierce Woman,” he wrote in the caption. “Fiercely loving. Fiercely kind. ….and fiercely funny. ❤️ you B.”
