Charles Le Brun ’s painting ofEverhard Jabach and His Familywas finished in 1660 . Now that it ’s 2015 and hanging in the Metropolitan Museum of Art , my favorite museum in New York , it was in need of a little flake of , um , reviving . The Met maneuver us throughas it restores the giant bit of graphics and shows the dance step the artwork involve to shine again .
It ’s explicate all in the video below but the steps were pretty complicated and involved remove the varnish , laying the house painting down , structural piece of work , turn the painting over , re - stretching , varnish the painting again , inpainting , and spray seal the work . It ’s an involved process but you could clearly tell the dispute from beginning to terminate .
