Frank Baum might have just like the name . Max Zimmerman , an insurance agentive role in Liberal , Kansas , come up with the idea of making his hometownthe " prescribed " hometown of Dorothy Galeand her aunt and uncle . Oliver Brown found an honest-to-god planetary house that looked an awful lot like the farmhouse in the 1939 pic , and the town had it moved to the Coronado Museum ground . In 1981 , it became The Land of Oz , a 5,000 square foot exhibit on Dorothy and Oz .
Tour guide dressed as Dorothy will take you througha tour of the family , then down the chicken brick road to a museum that hold artifacts and memorabilia from the 1939 filmThe Wizard of Oz . You ’ll see the story of how the pic came to be , and an explanation of many of the flick ’s particular effects .
