By removing all that talking , we could transform the 3 - hour epic to about 45 minutes of pure Lynchian imagery , unburden by the need to make a taradiddle out of 650 page of verbose political maneuvering by people who drop half the book take apart their own superhuman , chess game - like conversations .
honestly , I suppose the movie would ’ve been improved with randomly intersperse shot of Dennis Hopper scream at Paul Atreidesabout Pabst Blue Ribbon , but that ’s just me .
