Borderlands’First Trailer Is Heavy on the Chaos

Lionsgate has been trying to get aBorderlands movieoff the ground since 2015 , with Eli Roth becoming attached to the projectin 2020 . After a longer - than - expected wait and aseries of reshootswith Tim Miller at the helm , the movie is a real matter , and it ’s coming in August . The first trailer , however , is here now :

The Borderlands games business organization a rotate quartet of Vault Hunters who show up on the planet Pandora looking to find a legendary Vault ( and shoot various bandit and golem in the cheek ) . The celluloid features several persona from the first two plot , but set them in a very non - halting setup : Cate Blanchett ’s Lilithhas knock-down Siren abilities and coming back to Pandora to rescue the girl of Edgar Ramírez ’s Atlas . She hates to be there , but it ’s not long before she ’s joined by soldier Roland ( Kevin Hart ) , mad scientist Tannis ( Jamie Lee Curtis ) , bull Kreig ( Florian Munteau ) , and demolition expert Tiny Tina ( Ariana Greenblatt ) . The group will ( presumptively ) proceed to notice every bandit or robot they can and fool them in the face with a variety of guns . Oh , and Claptrap ( Jack Black ) is there too .

Gearbox ’s games are known for experience a colorful ( and garrulous ) cast of grapheme , and the dawdler largely delivers on that front . It ’s very barefacedly goofy similar to how the games often are , but it ’s miss something : a ridiculous arsenal of guns ! We do see some weapons , but it ’s one of the signatures of the serial publication , and it feels wrong to not see it to the full describe here . perhaps they ’re save that for the second trailer , along with the cast drop two minutes sorting through a tough UI to swap out their train .
