Set nearly four X after theevents of the first picture show , the sequel sees a produce up Lydia Deetz ( thereturning Winona Ryder ) forced to once again call on Beetlejuice ( Michael Keaton again , in fine , freakish class ) when her own rebellious daughter , Astrid ( Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega ) by chance re - discover the portal to the hereafter , getting herself catch up in its wild misstep of thoroughgoing - out ghosts and bizarre workplace bureaucracy .
