At 330 miles in diameter , Vesta is the 2d most monolithic object in the asteroid rap . NASA ’s Dawn space vehicle has been orbiting itfor some sentence now , but it ’s finally generated an image which usher the asteroid in all its glory .

Dawn is the first humans - made object to visit the asteroid swath , and this image is made up of a photomosaic of effigy acquired between July 2011 and September 2012 . NASA explain what you may see :
The loom mountain at the south pole – more than twice the summit of Mount Everest – is visible at the bottom of the epitome . The band of three volcanic crater known as the “ snowman ” can be visualize at the top leave .
